Error description

  • When a concatenation with a temporary dataset is used in SYSLIN
    with an IBM Rational Team Concert 4.0.3 (RTC) translator, IBM
    Rational Developer for System z 9.0.1 (RDz) user build generates
    an incorrect JCL.

    For example, if an RTC link translator, SYSLIN, is defined as a
    concatenation of &&TEMPOBJ and DB2.VR1M0.SDSNLOAD(DSNELI), the
    RDz user build should generates a JCL similar to

    //SYSLIN DD DSN=&&TEMPOBJ,
    //           DISP=SHR
    //       DD DSN=DB2.VR1M0.SDSNLOAD(DSNELI),
    //           DISP=SHR

    Instead, the user build generates the following JCL:

    //SYSLIN DD DSN=DB2.VR1M0.SDSNLOAD,
    //           DISP=SHR

Local fix

  • Manually edit the JCL created by the user build to correct the
    issues.

Problem summary

  • The JCL generation code was not handling temporary datasets in
    concatenations or dealing with member names when specified in
    the dataset definition.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix
