Error description

  • Rational Developer for System z CARMA does not pre-load the
processor group drop down list in the "ADD" element panel

    This happens on all requests.

The root cause of the problem is that the processor groups are
not found for the currently specified environment, system, stage
and type. The processor groups may be located if searched all
the way up the map. RDz should request in the Endevor API call
to search all the way up the map.

    Reproduction:
    Connected to CARMA first.
ADD element by "Right click on the CARMA Repository view
    --> Custom --> Add".

The problem has been observed with a v9.0.1.2 client connected
to an RDz 9.0.1.1 host. Other variations may also show the
    problem.

Note using an RDz v8.5.1.4 client to connect to the same host,
the processor group drop down list is populated correctly.

The Endevor API guide shows for ALPGR_RQ_STG_ID that the Stage
id field can contain a "*" wildcard character

The CA Messages and Codes reference guide states that the
    meaning of RC=00004 REASON=00007 is:
    Processor group not found

Local fix

  • Use an RDz v8.5.1.4 client

Problem summary

  • Processor group drop down list is empty when the processor
groups are not found for the currently specified environment,
    system, stage and type.

Problem conclusion

  • The RDz Endevor RAM needs to use the Search Map in order to
locate processor groups that are defined, and not just those
that are at the currently specified environment, system, stage
    and type.

The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with
IBM Rational Developer for System z V9.0.1.3 Fix Pack which
is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page:
