Error description

  • Rational Developer for System z 9.0.1 - When starting RDz client
with new workspace, expected push-to-client preferences are not
    downloaded.

The RDz client may incorrectly interpret host configuration
settings when there are extraneous white-space characters
embedded in the settings file. One example is the
    pushtoclient.properties setting primary.system=true being
interpreted as false when a trailing whitespace character causes
the client to incorrectly conclude that the setting is not equal
to "true". As a result, when an RDz user starts the client with
a new workspace and connects to the appropriate host, some saved
configuration/preferences are not downloaded to the client.

Local fix

  • Space/x'20' character is imbedded in active
pushtoclient.properties file. Remove these "white space"
    character(s) from pushtoclient.properties file.

Problem summary

  • The RDz client may incorrectly interpret host configuration
settings when there are extraneous whitespace characters
    embedded in the settings file.

One example is the pushtoclient.properties setting
primary.system=true being interpreted as false when a trailing
whitespace character causes the client to incorrectly conclude
that the setting is not equal to "true". As a result, when an
RDz user starts the client with a new workspace and connects to
the appropriate host, some saved configuration/preferences are
    not downloaded to the client.

Problem conclusion

  • The code which interprets the pushtoclient.properties file has
been modified to trim any whitespace characters before testing
    the setting's value.

The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with
