In Rational Developer for System z (RDz), a return code of 4038 is issued for CRANDVRA command when an empty CARMA folder (with no data set member) is opened. Here is what can be seen in the MSG3FILE: API0102I DISPATCHING API ACTION IMGR009W NO ELEMENT MATCH(ES) FOUND AT SPECIFIED LOCATION API0000I API0000I RETURNED COUNT=00000000, SELECTED COUNT=00000000 API0000I PROCESSING COMPLETE - RC=00004 REASON=00006 And the CRANDRVA joblog would display the return code: --- CRANDVRA CMD START 15:41:17.679101 ----------- invoking NDVRC1 PGM(CRASERV) PARM(30002 420) --- CRANDVRA CMD END 15:51:04.732326 ------------- the command ended with return code 4038
