APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Starting in WebSphere release 9.0.5.11, executing JPA queries
    with the Query Hint "eclipselink.batch" enabled, will cause a
    memory leak. The contents of a java Map
    "org.eclipse.persistence.queries.BatchFetchPolicy.dataResults"
    will grow in size each time the query is executed.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Eclipselink @BatchFetch API contains *
    *                      a memory leak in BatchFetchPolicy.      *
    *                      This is a regression fix for PH41630.   *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    APAR PH41630 contained a fix to
    org.eclipse.persistence.queries.BatchFe
    tchPolicy that enabled BatchFetchPolicy.clone() to endlessly
    add references of itself to a Map object every time a query is
    executed. This Map eventually fills up with references and an
    OutOfMemoryException will occur.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix
