    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: DB2 LONG VARCHAR data types may have *
    * been deprecated in some versions *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When using DB2 for session database, create table may give
    an error SQL1666N Unsupported functionality: "LONG_VARCHAR"

Problem conclusion

  • The WebSphere Application Server session manager will add a
    new custom property, UseDB2VARCHAR (default=false). Set this
    property to true to enable the Session Manager creates the
    session database table using the VARCHAR data type instead of
    LONG_VARCHAR for the medium column.
