APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Traveler server is issuing a rename of some hidden folders
e.g., ($Alarms) and (Rules) to the null string. This causes
the user's mail database to lose the view represented by that
hidden folder. Although the root cause is still under
investigation, we can avoid changing the mail database by
checking the 'before' name for a hidden folder, and the 'after'
name for the null string, and do not invoke the rename API.

Local fix

  • Reset the user whose mail database is missing views, before or
at the same time as you reapply the mail template to repair the
mail database. To reset the user, issue command:
    tell traveler reset * <user>

Problem summary

  • Investigating an unexpected device behavior that is sending
rename folder actions for various folders. This fix is to
simply block that action while investigating why that is
    happening in the first place.

Problem conclusion

  • The IBM Traveler server has been updated to prevent folder name
    changes to null value.
