Error description

  • Customer reported being unable to set JDBC conection parameter
    with connection debug parameters. The overall connection URL
    was about 400 characters. The notes.ini parameter limitation is
    256 characters which is where the connection URL is stored.

    Need to look at using an _EXT parameter to allow longer values.

Local fix

  • NA

Problem summary

  • Added new optional notes.ini parameter to allow DB Connection
    URLs longer than 256 characters:

      NTS_DBCONNECTIONURL_EXT

    To use this parameter it must be set manually in the notes.ini
    file and the standard NTS_DBCONNECTIONURL parameter must be
    commented out or removed. Once set you can then run the
    travelerUtil db set command to set the credentials if desired or
    run the travelerUtil db check command to check the connection.

    For example:

    NTS_DBCONNECTIONURL_EXT=customURL1, customURL2
    customURL1=first_part_of_my_long_url
    customURL2=second_part_of_my_long_url

    The IBM Traveler server will then handle this as any _EXT
    notes.ini parameter which is essentially to concatonate the
    values specified on the _EXT parameter.

Problem conclusion

  • The IBM Traveler server has been updated to accept an _EXT
    version of the NTS_DBCONNECTIONURL parameter in the notes.ini
    file, though it must be set manually.
