Error description

  • This is a pretty rare occurance but we found on an internal
system running with low memory available that trying to log an
error message could cause a stack overflow crash.

The reason appears to be from the failure to write the error
message due to memory constraints then prompts a new error
message to log that failure, etc. The fix will be to not
generate a new error from the log mechanism.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Rarely, if a Traveler server with low memory available tried to
log an error message, it could cause a stack overflow crash.
The reason appears to be from the failure to write the error
message due to memory constraints then prompts a new error
message to log that failure, etc.

Problem conclusion

  • The Notes Traveler Server was updated to not generate another
error message if that error message was due to memory
    constraints.
