APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • iOS8: Automatic Reply "Away Message" does not get saved when "Do
not automatically reply to mail from Internet Addresses" is not
    checked in Notes/iNotes.

Windows Phone: External automatic reply message is overwritten
    with internal message.

Local fix

  • The following are ways to avoid/remedy the issues:

    For iOS 8:
    1) Use out of office from the Companion iOS app instead of
the built-in "Automatic Reply" option in iOS8 settings.

    2) Check "Do not automatically reply to mail from Internet
addresses" in the Exclusions tab of out of office from
Notes/iNotes (or uncheck the "External" checkbox from a Traveler
app). Warning: This will prevent external senders from receiving
    out of office replies.

    For Windows Phone:
    1) Enter the desired message in the internal message field
    instead.

Another alternative for both device types is to change the
message using a different Traveler client or using Notes/iNotes.

Problem summary

  • On iOS 8 Automatic Replies - messages changed on the device
cannot be saved if the "Do not automatically reply to mail from
Internet Addresses" is not checked in Notes/iNotes.

On Windows Phone Automatic Replies - external message entered on
the device cannot be saved, it is overwritten with the other
    (internal) message.

Problem conclusion

  • A check was reversed in the code which looks for iOS 8 devices
that allowed iOS 8 devices to change the body message only when
external mail is not allowed and allowed only the internal
message to be changed from Windows Phone (usually we allow only
    the external message).

I fixed the check to properly look for iOS 8 devices.

Temporary fix

  • Fix will be included in the next IF
