LI81057: GATEWAY WILL FAIL TO PUBLISH DUE TO CONTROL CHARACTERS IN THE CATALOG METADATA

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The gateway's creation of XML metadata would create malformed
  XML when the metadata received from the management server had a
  control character.  Depending upon where the control character
  was specified, the negative results would range from the entire
  catalog not publishing to a single API not being available.
  The problematic characters are x00-x08, x0b, x0c, x0e-x1f.  The
  gateway will now change these characters if encountered to a
  unicode replacement character.

Problem summary

• The hexadecimal control characters cased the XML version of the
  metadata to be malformed which could cause the catalog and its
  APIs to not be found.  These control characters are replaced
  with unicode replacement characters.
  

Problem conclusion

  delivered in the API Connect 5.0.8.8 GA</span><span
  style="background-color:rgb(255, 255, 255)"> and 2018.4.1.8 GA
  releases.</span>
