APAR status

  • Closed as new function.

Error description

  • When you use an HTTP import with a heavy load, you might notice
many TCP idle connections in the memory storage and an error
reporting "too many open files". All these TCP idle connections
must be cleaned up by running a full garbage collection (GC) or
    restarting the server.

Local fix

  • disable HTTP binding connection pool cache
    (com.ibm.websphere.sca.http.pc.connectionKeepAlive=false )

Problem summary

  • The HTTP binding maintains a cache for TCP connections. The
logic to process the cache might break in some cases, which
causes idle TCP connections to add up in the memory storage.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix that corrects the logic of HTTP binding to make sure the
TCP connection cache is handled properly will be included in a
future release of Business Automation Workflow.

Temporary fix

  • Disable the HTTP binding connection pool cache:
    com.ibm.websphere.sca.http.pc.connectionKeepAlive=false
