Error description
When EPV variables are used but the EPV is not added to the process app, you must restart IBM Business Process Manager. This issue occurs because the EPV reference is cached incorrectly. PRODUCTS AFFECTED IBM BPM IBM BPM Express
Local fix
Restart the web Process Designer. The newly created EPV is visible in the variables tab and the error no longer occurs.
Problem summary
The process caches the EPV reference. A valid EPV reference defaults to null, but in some cases it gets an empty set. If that is the case, the wrong reference is returned when checking the EPV reference because a mismatch occurs.
Problem conclusion
A fix that removes EPV reference caching will be included in a future release of IBM BPM.
