Error description

  • If you selected "Automatically flow to next task" while modeling
an activity in a business process definition (BPD) and the next
activity is a subprocess or linked process, you receive a
java.lang.RuntimeException when IBM Business Process Manager
(BPM) performs the navigation steps. The SystemOut.log file
contains an entry that is similar to the following entry:

Local fix

Problem summary

  • During the navigation steps, IBM BPM queries whether the BPD
instance contains a task for the current user. During this
query, a method is called that throws a
java.lang.RuntimeException if the corresponding activity is not
a user task or a system task.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix for IBM BPM V8.5.5.0 is available that eliminates the
task-type assessment call for activities implemented as part of
    a linked process or subprocess.
