IV52909: EVENT SYNC CACHE RESTORE FAILS WITH CUSTOMIZED MESSAGES

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Recreate:
    1. Install and configure event sync, including the caching
    triggers for
    closed sampled events in OMNIbus.
    2. Forward a situation to OMNIbus that customizes the msg
    attribute.
    3. Clear the situation in OMNIbus.
    4. Wait for the acknowledgement to expire in ITM, and the 'F'
    status
    update to be forwarded to OMNIbus.
    5. Observe the event is missing the Summary data in OMNIbus, as
    the
    cache restore trigger fails because it keys off of msg being
    equal to
    the situation name, which doesn't work if msg is customized.
    

Local fix

  • not sure there is one, Kirk would know as he ok'd the APAR
    

Problem summary

  • Event synchronization cached updates fail to be restored when
    the msg attribute is customized for a situation.
    
    
    If a sampled situation event is cleared/deleted in OMNIbus, and
    the situation is not resolved in IBM Tivoli Monitoring, an
    acknowledgement expiration update is sent to OMNIbus.  The
    synchronization cache triggers restore the data for the
    situation while checking to see if the Summary is equal to the
    situation name, which is true for default behavior.  If the
    Summary is customized, the check fails, and the triggers fail to
    restore the data from the situation.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The itmerror and itm_cleared_event_restore triggers are modified
    so that the data is restored even if the Summary has been
    customized.
    
    The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
