APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • You might be exposed to the symptom described with this APAR if
    you see consistent growth of the database activelog without the
    used space getting released.
    After some time you might see in the ACTLOG the following
    messages and the activelog is reduced. Then the problem with the
    activelog growing starts again.
    ANR0171I dbitxn.c(637): Error detected on 0:34, database in
    evaluation mode.
    ANR0162W Supplemental database diagnostic information:
    -1:08003:-99999 ([IBM][CLI Driver] CLI0106E Connection is
    closed. SQLSTATE=08003).
    ANR2183W cddeploy.c(686): Transaction 0:14677587 was aborted.

    Run the server monitoring perl script servermon.pl attached to
    the following technote:
    Perl script to collect Tivoli Storage Manager V6 and newer
    server monitoring data

    On the output file db2.txt you will see for example:

    Then have a look into the show.txt and there you can find the
    application handle.

    If the thread holding the oldest transaction is cddeploy.c you
    are affected by this APAR.
    
    Under the APAR condition it has been reported that you can run
    in num_log_span errors at client backups and that the
    archivelogs are not included in the db backups, so the
    archivelogdirectory is also filling up.

Local fix

  • On the Spectrum Protect command line turn off the DEPLOYPKGMGR
    SET DEPLOYPKGMR OFF
