Error description

  • Error Description:
    
    After upgrading the Spectrum Protect server to 8.1.6.0, tape
    volumes which were written prior to the upgrade and which have
    logical block protect enabled, may see ANR1330E and ANR1331E
    errors reported when attempting to read the volume. This will
    result in files incorrectly being marked as damaged on the
    volume. The data itself is intact.
    
    
    Customer/L2 Diagnostics (If Applicable)
    
    If ANR1330E and ANR1331E errors are seen, then an audit of the
    volume will unmark the damage, but a subsequent read of the
    volume (move data, reclamation) will display the same ANR1330E
    and ANR1331E errors.
    
    This is only applicable to tape volumes, not file sequential
    volumes. Also, this is only applicable if logical block
    protection is enabled at the device class level.
    
    This is also applicable if the 8.1.6.006 or 8.1.6.007 efix
    has been installed
    
    Once the fix has been installed, audit any identified problem
    volumes with fix=no

Local fix

  • Obtain and install the efix 8.1.6.006 or 8.1.6.007 from IBM
    support.
    
    HALT the Spectrum Protect server and amend the dsmserv.opt file
    with the following entry :
    
    DISABLEOPTIMIZEDCOPY
    
    Restart the server, then issue an audit of any affected volumes
    with fix=no. The read of the volume afterwards will be
    successful.
