APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Hardstop.sh has no effect on RedHat 7 when the username is
greater than 8 charecters.
The PS command changes the behaviour. As a result, the
script does not pick the right ID for the process to stop.

Local fix

  • In Line 55 of hardstop.sh change
<     HANDLE=´id -u "$USER"´
to
>     HANDLE=${USER:0:7}
to just grab the 1st 7 bytes of the username.
