IBM Spectrum Protect Server V8.1 Fix Pack 8 (V8.1.8) Downloads
APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
The IBM Spectrum Protect server commands EXPORT NODE, EXPORT SERVER, IMPORT NODE, IMPORT SERVER must not be used with the parameter MERGEFILESPACES, if the operation includes an incremental transfer of group data. Additionaly, the SUSPEND EXPORT and RESTART EXPORT commands must not be used for a server-to-server export containing group data. This is documented in APAR IT04266. As a consequence the manual "Administrator's Reference" was updated accordingly, beginning with manual version 7.1.3 However, despite the probable loss of grouping information when those parameters are used in this situation, the server accepts the parameters without displaying any warning or error messages. As a result some of the grouping information might be missing on the target server, without any notification to the user. The missing information may impact the restoreability of the data. Product versions affected: All 7.1 and 8.1 IBM Spectrum Protect server versions Initial impact: High Additional keywords: grouping relationship top level group leader | MDVPARTL 7.1.3.0-ISP_5698ISMSV | (IT04266)

Problem conclusion
This problem was fixed. Affected platforms for reported release: AIX, Linux, and Windows. Platforms fixed: AIX, Linux, and Windows. New Message ANR2370E: Export Node: The command was not processed because the parameters are invalid for an incremental data transfer operation. Explanation: You cannot use the MERGEFILESPACES parameter to incrementally transfer data from backup groups. This limitation applies to the EXPORT NODE, EXPORT SERVER, IMPORT NODE, and IMPORT SERVER commands. If you specify the MERGEFILESPACES=YES parameter setting on any of these commands, do not specify the FILEDATA=ALLACTIVE parameter setting or the FROMDATE or TODATE parameters. SystemAction: System operation continues, but the command fails. UserResponse: Reissue the command with valid parameters.
