IT24081: ANS1025E AUTHENTICATION FAILURE WHEN A LOCKED NODE ATTEMPTS TO CONNECT SINCE CLIENT/SERVER UPGRADE TO V718 / V812 OR HIGHER

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • After  IBM Spectrum Protect client and server are upgraded to
    one of  the enhanced security levels V718, or V812 or higher,
    if a client node is locked and tries to connect to the server it
    will get some authentication errors like:
    
    On the command line:
    
     "Node Name: TEST
     ANS1051I Invalid user id or password
     Please enter your user id <TEST>:
     Please enter password for user id "TEST": ****
    
     ANS1025E Session rejected: Authentication failure"
    
     The Java GUI client will get a popup prompting for the user
     password and even a good password will result in:
    
       "Authentication failure"
    
    That is abnormal, the message reported should be:
    
     "ANS1361E Session Rejected: The specified node name is
      currently locked"
    
    IBM Spectrum Protect Versions Affected:  All platforms with
     client and server at V718, or V812 or higher.
