Error description

  • A partial restore of objects located in compressed container
storage pools may fail with server message ANR0519E and client
    message:
ANS0323E (RC33) partialObjOffset value for partial object
       retrieve is invalid.
There are no errors during the saving of the object to the
container pool; the backup to the IBM Spectrum Protect server
    completes successfully.
Depending on the programming for the application that is
performing the partial restore, there may be no additional
    messages on the client.
This can affect any applications that perform partial restores,
including Content Manager, IBM Spectrum Protect for VE, Data
Protection for VMware and Hyper-V restores.
The server activity log will have the message:
ANR0519E A retrieve or restore operation failed for session
123456 for node xxxxx (application name). An invalid partial
       object request was received.
    .

Local fix

  • Until an efix is available, consider storing those objects
which will need to use partial restores within a FILE storage
    pool (not a container pool).
