Error description

  • If there is container fragmentation, the IBM Spectrum Protect Q
STG command for a directory container storage pool might report
incorrect values for "Pct Util", "Deduplication Savings",
"Compression Savings" and "Total Space Saved".

For SHOW SDPOOL output, the container used space and free space
    show the same symptom:

    For V7 servers:
       CntrUsedSpace
       CntrFreeSpace

    For V8 servers:
       DedupCntrUsedSpace
       DedupCntrFreeSpace

       NonDedupCntrUsedSpace
       NonDedupCntrFreeSpace

Under the APAR condition, for the Q STG command "Pct Util" is
greater than the real value, and the numbers reported for
    savings are smaller.
For the SHOW command output, the UsedSpace reported is greater
than the real value and FreeSpace is smaller.

This symptom is a reporting issue only, to confirm you are
exposed to this APAR check the output for the following commands
    submitted as instance user:
    db2 connect to tsmdb1
db2 "select count(*) as count from
    tsmdb1.sd_fragmented_containers"

If count is greater than 0 and the current server version level
is lower than the APAR target server version level, the server
    faces the APAR.

IBM Spectrum Protect Versions Affected: V7.1.3 and newer, V8.1
      Initial Impact: Low
Additional Keywords: TSM space directory container query
    stgpool storage pool
