APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When using a FTP server front side handler with an idle timeout
configured, the timeout can cause the data connection to be
closed even if the data connection is actively being used to
    send data.

Local fix

  • Set the idle timeout to 0 (disabled).

Problem summary

  • Affected is the use of FTP server front side handler with an
idle timeout. When transferring a large file for which
    the transfer takes
longer than the idle timeout, the control connection might
close unexpectedly. This behavior is not expected by
applicable RFCs and might confuse the FTP client causing file
    transfer to fail.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix
