Error description

  • When restoring a VM machine by IBM Data Protection for Microsoft
    Hyper-V, at the end of restore, the disk type of the virtual
    machine is changed erroneously from the original fixed size to
    thin disk (dynamically expandable) .

Problem conclusion

  • The issue was that the Backup-Archive client sends incorrect
    type (DYNAMIC instead of FIXED) of the virtual disk to the TSM
    server. As result: after restore virtual machine has DYNAMIC
    disk instead of FIXED virtual disk. It doesn't have influence on
    VM, that is VM starts and works. The issue has been fixed, now
    we send the correct type of VM disk to the server.
