Error description

  • If a cloud storage pool becomes disconnected from it's object
storage target and/or the object storage has been removed or
it's access revoked the data in the pool cannot be
deleted/removed and therefore neither can the storage pool
itself. The deletion processing for data in a cloud storage pool
currently requires and active connection to the object storage
for the deletion processing to complete successfully. If the
object storage used by the cloud pool is destroyed or otherwise
ends up in a state where the server cannot connect to it then
the deletion processing will never complete. Since there are a
variety of reasons why object storage a cloud pool is using may
never be accessible again deletion/removal of the data from this
pool need to be able to process without having to connect to
that object storage. This APAR will address the ability for data
deletion to complete in such a scenario. It will not be able to
address the reasons for the object storage unaccessibility.
