Error description
A memory leak can occur for Server version 7.1.3 and higher with Operation Center and replication configured. Using 'show alloc' this issue will show high memory usage over time of the "tuMatchStrColAndIntCol" function. The problem will happen if all the following conditions are met: 1. Server version is 7.1.3.0 through 7.1.7.0. 2. Replication is configured on the server. 3. One or more nodes is enabled for replication and with replication mode = SEND. 4. Status monitoring is set to 'ON' to work with the Operation Center. For example: tumatch.c line 335: 115831 entries for 1231741892 bytes (tuMatchStrColAndIntCol) thread 395(TablesMonitoringThreads[i].monT parent=35) The affected server can be a "hub" server or a "spoke" server. Eventually, due to the memory leak during status monitoring the host system can run out of free memory and paging/swap space and can stop. IBM Spectrum Protect versions affected: Server 7.1.3.0 and higher on all supported platforms | MDVREGR 7.1.3.0-TIV_5698MSV | Initial Impact: Medium Additional Keywords: TSM IBM Spectrum Protect memleak memory OC
Local fix
Restart the server process/service or Stop status monitoring with "SET STATUSMONITOR OFF" but this means no monitoring data is sent to Operations Center.
