IT16549: ORA-01460 ERROR WHEN CALLING AN ORACLE STORED PROCEDURE

Error description

• With IBM Integration Bus V10 Fix Pack 4, an ESQL call to an
  Oracle stored procedure fails if the procedure has at least two
  VARCHAR2 input parameters and more than 1999 characters are
  bound to the first parameter. The ODBC driver returns the
  following error:
  
  [ODBC Oracle Wire Protocol driver]
  [Oracle]ORA-01460: unimplemented or unreasonable conversion

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  With IBM Integration Bus V10 Fix Packs 4 and 5, an ESQL call to
  an Oracle stored procedure fails if the procedure has at least
  two VARCHAR2 input parameters and more than 1999 characters are
  bound to the first parameter. The ODBC driver returns the
  following error:
  
  [ODBC Oracle Wire Protocol driver][Oracle]ORA-01460:
  unimplemented or unreasonable conversion requested.
  
  Depending on the database configuration and environment setup,
  the upper VARCHAR2 length limit might be 3998 characters before
  the problem is seen.
  
  This problem is also applicable to IBM Integration Bus V9 Fix
  Pack 6.
  

Problem conclusion

• The product includes an updated level of ODBC driver that
  resolves the problem.
