Error description

  • When running Protect Storage Pool at the same time a deletion
    process such as: Inventory Expiration, Delete Filespace or
    client deletion; the following error may be seen:
    ANR0106E sdrtrv.c(1908): Unexpected error 1114 fetching row in
    table "SD.Chunk.Locations".
    The following error may also been noted in the Server Actlog:
    ANR2818E A consistency check failed on container <containername>
    This is caused by a timing issue whereby the chunks are being
    removed from the source server by the deletion process prior
    to protect sending the chunks to the target server.
    Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: 7.1.3 7.1.4 and 7.1.5
    Customer/L2 Diagnostics:
    On the IBM Spectrum Protect server command line run the
    following command:
    Show SDPool
    Note the poolids: (for example)
    SD Pool DEDUPPOOL (4):
    On the source and target server run the following commands
    at the DB2 command line:
    1.
    set db2instance=<IBM Spectrum Protect instance name>
    db2 connect to tsmdb1
    db2 set schema tsmdb1
    db2 "select 1 from sd_replicated_chunks sdrc left join sd_chunk_
    locations sdcl on
    (sdrc.poolid=sdcl.poolid and sdrc.chunkid=sdcl.chunkid) where
    sdrc.poolid=xxxxxx and sdrc.chunktype=0 and sdcl.chunkid is null
    fetch first row only for read only with ur"
    2.
    set db2instance=<IBM Spectrum Protect instance name>
    db2 connect to tsmdb1
    db2 set schema tsmdb1
    db2 "select 1 from sd_replicated_chunks sdrc left join
    sd_non_dedup_locations sdndl on (sdrc.poolid=sdndl.poolid and
    sdrc.chunkid=sdndl.chunkid) where sdrc.poolid=xxxxxx and
    sdrc.chunktype=1 and sdndl.chunkid is null fetch first row
    only for read only with ur"
    Ensure that XXXXX is replaced with the poolid noted in show
    sdpool
    If either the source or target return a return code of 1 then
    you are experiencing this issue.

Local fix

  • Ensure that any deletion processes are not run when
    Protect Storage Pool is running.
    Install fix when available.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * Apply fixing level when available. Fixing level must be *
    * applied to both source and target replication servers. Once *
    * applied, PROTECT STGPOOL operations must not be performed on *
    * any servers running Protect Stgpool (including scheduled *
    * operations) until the following corrective actions have been *
    * taken:                                                       *
    *                                                              *
    * 1. Determine if APARs IT14687 or IT14919 apply to your       *
    * systems. If so, take the corrective actions for those APARs *
    * first.                                                       *
    * 2. Issue the command PROTECT STGPOOL <stgpoolname>           *
    * PURGEDATA=ALL.                                               *
    * 3. Wait for step #2 to run to successful completion. *
    * 4. Resume normal PROTECT STGPOOL operations. *
    ****************************************************************
