Error description

  • If a REPLICATE NODE is issued for a node where number of
objects eligible for replication is very large, in this case
81.721.495 objects, and REPLMODE is set to SYNCSEND, server may
    crash during memory allocation attempt.

The stack text will appear similar to following:

    malloc_y.leftmost(??, ??) at 0x900000000040d28
    malloc_y.malloc_y(0x6a0, 0x0, 0x9001000a007f878, 0x5f0, 0x0,
    0x11360063, 0x11360063, 0x8b23) at 0x9000000000437d0
    malloc_common.malloc_common@AF104_87(??) at 0x90000000002baac
    pkmemory.pkAllocTracked(??, ??, ??, ??) at 0x100003c90
    tbrsql.TbAddStmtToTxn(??, ??, ??, ??) at 0x1001aee3c
    tbrsql.tbRegisteredOpen(??, ??, ??) at 0x1001ae7d8
    tbrsql.tbGetStmtAndRows@AF33_24(??, ??, ??, ??, ??, ??) at
    0x1001b4e2c
    sdrepair.SdRepairReconOrderThread(??) at 0x100ba9150
    pkthread.StartThread(0x0) at 0x10000d670

As part of the process of synchronizing the two servers, the
source server builds a list of all of the files that are in
common between the two servers, and if the list size is in
magnitude of 81 millions or more, it is likely that the node
replication attempt will result in buffer overflow, and server
    crash.

    TSM Versions Affected:
Tivoli Storage Manager server 6.3.x and 7.1.x on all platforms.

    Initial Impact:
    Medium

    Additional Keywords:
    TSM; server; crash; malloc; malloc_y.leftmost; REPLICATE NODE;
    Spectrum Protect
