Error description

  • The IBM Spectrum Protect server can make an inefficient space
    check for small file backups to container pools.  In some cases
    this inefficient space check can lead to the following error in
    dsmffdc.log:

    The Resource timeout mentioned in the dsmffdc.log is related to
    the RESOURCETIMEOUT server option.
    The Resource timeout can lead to the following error in the
    activity log:
    ANR0523W Transaction failed for session 1234 for node NODE_NAME
    - error on output storage device.
    The Resource timeout can also lead to the following error in the
    dsmffdc.log:

Local fix

  • Increase RESOURCETIMEOUT from the default of 60 to allow for
    more time before the resource timeout.  Run the following
    command in dsmamdc to update the RESOURCETIMEOUT server option
    dynamically without stopping and restarting the server:
      SETOPT RESOURCETIMEOUT 120
