Error description
The IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Server is using the Server-ID of the StorageAgent instead of the Node-ID of the node that is connected to the StorageAgent for LAN-free backup or archive processing for checking whether the node is decommissioned or not. If the Server-ID of the StorageAgent is the same as the Node-ID of a decommissioned node, the node that is actually connecting to the Server will fail with: ANS0338E (RC47) An invalid operation was attempted on a node The IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Server reports this error with message: ANR2250E SESSION 132: Operation is not allowed because node NODENAME is decommissioned. Note that in this case the node specified in the ANR2250E is not actually decommissioned. Customer/L2 Diagnostics: To verify whether the system is affected by this problem login to DB2 as (Tivoli Storage Manager) instance owner and query the IBM Spectrum Protect Servers database using this commands: >select NODENAME, NODEID from TSMDB1.Nodes Here find the Node-ID from any decommissioned node. >select server_name, server_id from tsmdb1.server_connect_info Here find the Server-ID from the StorageAgent that is running on the affected system. Run the "Query NOde Format=Detailed" command to find which nodes are 'Decommissioned'. Data Protection Versions Affected: IBM Spectrum Protect Server at version 7.1.3 and above Initial Impact: Medium Additional Keywords: TSM STA LAN-free SQL API
Local fix
Disable lan-free communications for the decommissioned node and then stop and restart the storage agent. An alternative to disabling lan-free communications for the decommissioned node is to make process and/or script changes to prevent the decommissioned node from establishing a connection through the storage agent. If for some reason this node does need to connect through the storage agent then the storage agent would need to be stopped and restarted again before using other nodes with this same storage agent.
