Error description

  • When running space reclamation with multiple processes, there
    can be a time, where due to files spanning multiple volumes,
    that one of the processes has to wait for a lease of one of the
    spanned volumes which another reclamation process holds the
    lease.
    
    
    For example, space reclamation of file pool FILE_POOL is started
    with 2 processes and
    process 54 waits for the lease to the volume in use by process
    55.
    
    
    ANR1040I Space reclamation started for volume
     /storage1/volume1.BFS, storage pool
     FILE_POOL (process number 55). (SESSION: 127843,
     PROCESS: 55)
    
    ANR1042I Space reclamation for storage pool FILE_POOL
    will be retried in 60 seconds. (SESSION: 127843, PROCESS:
    54)
    
    ANR1044I Removable volume /storage1/volume2.BFS
    is required for space reclamation. (SESSION: 127843,
    PROCESS: 55)
    
    Process 54 will repeat to the activity log, every 60 seconds:
    ANR1042I Space reclamation for storage pool FILE_POOL
    will be retried in 60 seconds. (SESSION: 127843, PROCESS:
    54)
    until it is granted the lease to the volume it requires.
    
    This behaviour can extend the time is takes to reclaim the
    storage pool.

    Tivoli Storage Server Versions Affected:  6.3.x and 7.1.x on all
    supported platforms
