Error description
Error Description: . Spectrum Protect server startup can be very slow due the effects of DB2 APAR IT11313 When starting the Spectrum protect Server there is a long delay during db2 activate. Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: 6.x and 7.1.x Customer/L2 Diagnostics (If Applicable) . In the server trace ( using trace flags DBADM DBCONN) , you may see long delays during startup before activate completes. Here is an example: . Start of the trace . 04:04:19.154 [0][trace.c][1699][TrBegin]: 04:50:22.145 [0][rdbinst.c][1323][RdbStartInstance]:DbStartInstance: Exit (rc = 0). . 04:51:13.186 [0][rdbdb.c][2228][RdbActivateDatabase]:Database TSMDB1 activated . Initial Impact: Low|Medium|High: medium Additional Keywords: tsm activate db startup slow
Local fix
The following will provide relief until problem is fixed: . 1) Halt the TSM server 2) Ensure that the DB2 instance is stopped and run: . db2stop 3) set the following registry variable: db2set DB2_ALLOCATION_SIZE=16MB 4) start the TSM server NOTE: This is a deprecated setting, and should be removed after upgrading to the Fix Pack containing this APAR fix
