Error description

  • The Tivoli Storage Manager server RECLAIMSTGPOOL option can be
defined via the the DEFINE STGPOOL and UPDATE STGPOOL commands
to specify an alternative primary storage pool as a target
    for reclaimed data.

Attempting to use this option with sequential file storage
pools can lead to operational failures with reclamation
processing, particularly when the primary storage pool is
deduplicated, but the target storage pool is not. In such
a case, an administrator might witness an error similar to
    the following during reclamation:

      ANR9999D_0646289024 BfReconstruct(bfcreate.c:3678)
                          Thread<911>: Internal error: Inter-pool
                          copy of deleted bitfile 123456789

The server should prevent administrators from configuring
sequential FILE storage pools with the RECLAIMSTGPOOL option.

    Customer/L2 Diagnostics:
    None.

    Initial Impact:
    Medium

    Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected:
All supported Tivoli Storage Manager servers.

    Additional Keywords:
TSM RECLAIM RECLAMATION STGP STORAGE POOL STGPOOL ANR9999D
    MSGANR9999D INTERPOOL INTER-POOL INTERNAL ERROR

Local fix

  • Remove the RECLAIMSTGPOOL option from sequential file storage
pools. For example: UPDATE STGP DEDUP RECLAIMSTGP=""

Affected platforms: AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, Linux, and Windows.

After this fix the following message will be issued when
attempting to define a storage pool with a file device class
with a reclaim storage pool or to add a reclaim storage pool to
an existing storage pool for a file device class.
ANR2344E DEFINE STGPOOL: The "RECLAIMSTGPOOL" option is not
    valid for device
    class FILE.
