Error description

  • During node replication processing initiation, server may crash
    with following call stack:

    STACK_TEXT:
    msvcr110!output_l+0x3c8
    msvcr110!sprintf+0x7b
    adsmdll!PrepDispArgs+0x7ad
    adsmdll!TrPrintfExt+0x4a
    adsmdll!GetTargetProcActivity+0xdb
    adsmdll!NrTargetMonProcess+0xbc
    adsmdll!startThread+0x13c
    msvcr110!beginthreadex+0x107
    msvcr110!endthreadex+0x192
    kernel32!BaseThreadInitThunk+0x1a
    ntdll!RtlUserThreadStart+0x1d

This can happen only during initial node replication initiation,
when source server is attempting to get the GUID for the target
replication server and receives an error from the database and
at the same time REPL aggregated trace flag or individual
REPLPROC or REPLERROR trace flags are enabled.

    TSM Versions Affected:
Tivoli Storage Manager server V7 on all platforms.

    Initial Impact:
    Low

    Additional Keywords:
    TSM; server; crash; node replication; repl; TrPrintfExt;
    PrepDispArgs; sprintf; output_l

Local fix

  • Do not use aggregated trace flag REPL but use individual flags
without REPLPROC or REPLERROR instead or wait for the
replication initiation to complete, if the issue being traced is
     not related to replication initiation.
