Error description

  • When a define path is issue for a external library manger, the
path definition includes an externalmanager option that points
to the actual external library manager applications When the
string "ges" (lower or upper case) is found in this string the
expectation is that this definition is for a Gresham external
library manager so ELMDT should also be part of this
specification. If this is not the case then the ANR1736E invalid
length message is issued as an indication that the specified
option must be too short as it is missing the expected ELMDT
call. It is however possible that an external library manager
that is not Gresham's EDT using ELMDT could have the string
"ges" within it's path. The reporting customer is using eRMM and
has a path convention for the external library manager code that
includes the machine host name which has the "ges" string. This
path string restriction should not exist and needs to be
    removed.
Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: 6.3 and 7.1 all
    platforms
    Initial Impact: High
    Additional Keywords: TSM GES

Local fix

  • If possible change the path for the externalmanager to something
that does not have the "ges" string
