APAR status

Error description

  • The Tivoli Storage Manager Server does not issue a message when
    the current Tivoli Storage Manager device driver version is
    below the current server level.
    This might mask problems with devices supported with the current
    server level, but not by the used device driver level.
    
    Symptoms could be, messages like "ANR8484E No drives are
    available to be mounted in R/W mode with format ULTRIUM4C in
    library TEST",
    though the library is equipped with LTO6 drives only or
    "ANR8302E I/O error on drive L03_D26 (/dev/rmt326) with volume
    300525L6
    (OP=SETMODE, Error Number=22, CC=207, rc = 1, KEY= FF, ASC=FF,
    ASCQ= FF, SENSE=**NONE**,  Description=Device is not in a state
    capable of performing request)"
    when forcing the server to use a specific device format (in this
    case ULTRIUM6C).

Local fix

  • Ensure that the used Tivoli Storage Manager device driver level
    matches the used Tivoli Storage Manager server level.
