Error description
'Expire inventory' process can end in status of FAILURE with error count > 0, but the activity log is not reporting what these errors were and when they occurred. For example: ANR0812I Inventory file expiration process 22 completed: processed 29 nodes, examined 118599 objects, deleting 118595 backup objects, 0 archive objects, 0 DB backup volumes, and 0 recovery plan files. 0 objects were retried and 4 errors were encountered. ANR0987I Process 22 for EXPIRE INVENTORY running in the BACKGROUND processed 118,599 items with a completion state of FAILURE NR1893E Process 22 for EXPIRE INVENTORY completed with a completion state of FAILURE. Activity log has no error message(s) to indicate a specific error occurred, even though 4 errors are reported. Only indicator is: ANR0538I A resource waiter has been aborted being logged at same time as ANR0166I and ANR0167I information messages. Problem conclusion
The problem was fixed. Existing message ANR1984E is modified as follows to report this condition: ANR1894E <command>: Processing for node <node name>, file space <file space name> failed because of a lock conflict. Explanation: The server could not obtain a resource that is required to process the indicated file space. System Action: The command continues, but processing of the indicated file space fails. User Response: To increase the probability of acquiring all of the necessary resources, issue the indicated command when server activity is relatively low. Affected Platforms: AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, Linux, and Windows.
