Error description

  • A defect in theTivoli Storage Manager server causes the server
to select the incorrect storage pool from which to restore a
file. In this case the storage pool is a deduplication enabled
storage pool and the file has been migrated. When the file is
migrated, the server attempts to delete the file but is unable
to because some of extents (chunks) that make up the file are
linked to by other files. At some point the server reclaimed the
file and because it is marked deleted any chunks that are not
linked to are deleted. When a restore or retrieve of this file
is performed, the server incorrectly selects the deleted file in
the deduplicated storage pool rather than the storage pool the
file was migrated to. As the server reads attempts to read the
file on behalf of a client, it encounters the missing chunks
(they were deleted) and marks the file as damaged.
