Error description

  • During the execution of REPLICATE NODE, the Target server may
crash with the following core stack:

    Core was generated by `/opt/tivoli/tsm/server/bin/dsmserv'.
Program terminated with signal 11, Segmentation fault.

    ================================================================

The problem is seen when the replication is setup to include
nodes that have proxy agent nodes that are not enabled for
    replication.

    Customer/L2 Diagnostics:
The problem can be verified by one of the following methods:

    1. Look in the activity log of the source server covering the
time of the replications for ANR3187E:

ANR3187E Replication of associated replication node AGENTNODE1
failed - the node is not configured for replication (SESSION: 5,
    PROCESS: 21)

    2. Do QUERY NODE F=D on the proxy agents for failing NODE to
    identify the replication mode.

    Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected:
    Tivoli Storage Manager Server V7

    Initial Impact:
    Medium

    Additional Keywords:
TSM PROXY AGENT REPLICATE NODE ANR3187E CRASH DUMP CORE STACK
    DoQueryNode REPLICATION

Local fix

  • If the proxy agents aren't enabled, then enabling them for
replication will avoid the core on the target (doesn't have to
specify these nodes in the REPLICATE NODE command, just enable
    them for replication).
Note that just enabling the proxy nodes for replication won't
replicate any data associated with the proxy nodes, just the
    node definition.
