IT02595: SERVER UPGRADE FAILS INSUFFICIENT USER AUTHORITY TO RUN THE DB2CKUPGRADE UTILITY DBT5500N

Error description

  • Upgrading the Tivoli Storage Manager server using the upgrade
    wizard fails on Windows. Error message indicates that the
    db2ckupgrade utility could not be run. For example,
    DBT5529N The db2ckupgrade utility did not complete successfully.
    The database cannot be upgraded. The output log file is named
    "C:\ProgramData\IBM\Installation
    Manager\logs\native\tsm_logs\db2ckupgrade_SERVER1.log".
    
    Review the db2ckupgrade_SERVER1.log file reveals that the user
    does not have sufficient authority to run this utility:
    Version of DB2CKUPGRADE being run: VERSION "10.5"
    DBT5500N  The current user does not have sufficient authority to
    run the db2ckupgrade utility.
    
    This error can occur even if you log into the system using the
    DB2 instance owner, who should have permission to run the
    db2chkupgrade utility, to run the upgrade.
    
    When running the upgrade wizard on Windows, the user account
    that performs the upgrade is actually LocalSystem. The
    authorization ID for the LocalSystem account is SYSTEM. If you
    are using a non-English version of a Windows operating system,
    the authorization ID for the LocalSystem may contain invalid
    characters. For example, in French, the LocalSystem account is
    Systハme, which contains the invalid character ?ハ?. This will
    cause the upgrade failure.

  • Uninstall the current Tivoli Storage Manager server and install
    the new server level.
