IT02105: "THE DB2 INSTALLATION MEDIA CANNOT BE LOCATED" ERROR DURING UPGRADE OF SERVER TO V7

Error description

  • The upgrade of the Tivoli Storage Manager server component to
    Version 7.1 could fail with the following error message:
    
    "The DB2 installation media cannot be located"
    
    
    The problem occurs at upgrade time, when the user selects for
    server installation a different directory than the one where
    version V6 has been installed.
    
    
    
    
    Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected:
    Tivoli Storage Manager Server V7 and later on all supported
    platforms
    
    
    
    
    Initial Impact:

Local fix

  • Use the following steps as workaround to the above problem
    
    1.  Uninstall Tivoli Storage Manager Server V6.x
    
    
    2.  Make a backup copy of the instance.dat file which gets
        created during the uninstall.
        It is stored in the top most installation directory.
    
        Example:  C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM
    
        Copy the file to the C:\ directory
    
    
    3.  Perform the install of Tivoli Storage Manager Server V7.1
    
    
    4.  Use these steps to upgrade the instance.  These steps will
        work even with version 7.1 even though it says 6.1 to 6.2
