Error description

  • If DataPower establishes an outgoing SFTP connection and the
backend becomes unresponsive during a transaction, the
    connection might not close.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Affected are customers using DataPower with a SFTP backend.

When the SFTP server being connected accepts the TCP connection,
but immediately stops responding, the TCP connection will not
timeout, leaving the TCP port open and the memory allocated for
    the transaction.

TCP ports in this state can be recovered without an appliance
restart when the affected TCP connection is terminated (e.g. by
the server itself or external injection of a RST packet).

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix
