IT01623: OPERATIONS CENTER MAY REPORT "CANNOT RETRIEVE DATA" WHEN LOADING DATA

Error description

  • Server messages that have message inserts that are long in
    length can cause truncated JSON to be sent to the Operation
    Center.
    This might cause an error loading data to the Operations Center.
    
    Example:
    When selecting:
    "Storage Devices" - "Device Class"
    from the Tivoli Storage Manager Operations Center
    no data is shown and it fails with the following error message:
    
    "Cannot retrieve data"
    
    In the above example:
    
    If the device has a long directory list (longer than 1025
    characters) this can cause a server message ANR2900W
    which indicates that a string for an SQL query was truncated
    because it was very long.
    The message is appropriate however the server is sending an
    unexpected truncated message format to the Operations Center.

Local fix

  • If possible, reduce the length of output produced by the Tivoli
    Storage Manager server.
