IT01581: MANAGED SERVER PASSWORD EXPIRATION PERIOD NOT ENFORCED IN ENTERPRISE CONFIGURATION

Error description

  • Tivoli Storage Manager enterprise configurations allow for
    servers to function as configuration managers or managed
    servers.  Managed servers receive configuration information
    through subscriptions to profiles on the configuration manager.
    Each managed server stores the distributed information as
    managed objects in its database.  Registered administrators and
    their passwords can be distributed to managed servers.
    Administrator definitions with PASSExp set the password
    expiration period in days.  UPDATE ADMIN FORCEPWRESET=YES can
    also be used to require a password change.  Administrators are
    forced to change expired passwords when logging into
    configuration manager servers.  When an administrator logs
    onto a managed server with an expired password the following
    message is issued to the console:
      ANR1714W The password for administrator <admin> has expired.
      The password for this administrator must be updated on the
      configuration manager server <config_mgr>.
    The ANR1714W  message is issued but the administrator is
    allowed to access managed servers.  The server should not allow
    administrators with expired passwords to access managed servers
    until the expired password has been updated.
