Error description

  • When Tivoli Storage Manager server run on HP-UX platform, define
volume fails when using a filesystem greater than 2TB in size.

For example, when /tsm filesystem is greate than 2TB, actlog
reports for define volume:

DEFINE VOLUME HUE-DISKPOOL /tsm/disk/disk005.dsm
formatsize=10000 wait=yes
ANR0984I Process 357 for DEFINE VOLUME started in the FOREGROUND
ANR7865W Unable to create volume  /tsm/disk/disk005.dsm. Return
code=108.


The cause of the failure is that Tivoli Storage Manager server
uses statfs() function call on the HP-UX platform
which is limited to work with a maximum filesystem size of 2TB.





Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected:
Tivoli Storage Manager server version 6.2.x, 6.3.x and 7.1.x on
HP-UX platforms

  • Define volumes that use a filesystem that is 2TB or less.
