IT01245: POSSIBLE RESTART WHEN A PROCESSING POLICY ERROR RULE CONTAINS ASYNCHRONOUS ACTION

Subscribe

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • DataPower does a proactive recovery of resource which causes
the headers to be removed from DataPower before all the
asynchronous transform actions (that need them) have completed.

The deletion of the headers before the asynchronous action
completes might cause the device to restart unexpectedly.

Local fix

  • Add an 'Event Sink' action to the end of the error rule, that
waits for the asynchronous transform action to complete. Also,
give it a reasonable timeout (a few seconds).

Problem summary

  • Affected is the use of asynchronous (transform) actions in the
Processing Policy Error Rules in a XML Firewall.

An unexpected restart might occur when the Error Rule containing
    the asynchronous action(s) gets triggered.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix
