IT01113: DELAYED SUMMARY RECORDS IF CONSUMER SESSIONS END UNEXPECTEDLY

Error description

  • There is a delay in client activity records added to the
    summary tables if one (or multiple) of the client consumer
    sessions end unexpectedly.
    
    For Tivoli Storage manager multisession client activities, the
    client will start a producer session  as the master session and
    one or more consumer sessions to transfer data between client
    and server.
    
    There are situations where the producer session can time out,
    and if then the consumer sessions end, the client opens another
    server session to allow for cleanup and housekeeping.
    
    The delayed summary records are seen when at least one of the
    consumer sessions ends unexpectedly, e.g. because of a timeout
    reached. Under this condition, the housekeeping sessions stay
    registered until some regular cleanup process finally cleans up,
    resulting in a perceived delay.

Problem conclusion

  • If a client/server communications session ends abnormally, you
    might experience a delay before the summary records for a client
    backup event are added to the server database.
    
    The Problem Determination Guide will be updated to include the
    information in following section:
    "Determining why summary records for a client backup event are
    missing"
    
    Affected platforms: AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, Linux, and Windows.
