Error description

  • During a write operation to optical WORM UDO2 media the Tivoli
Storage Manager reports the following error message:
    ANR8302E I/O error on drive OPTICAL_DRIVEX (/dev/ropX) with
             volume XYZ1234 (OP=WRITE, Error Number=110,CC=401, rc=3
             KEY= 08, ASC=92, ASCQ= 00
The problem was reported on a Plasmon UDO2 Drive, and looking in
the Plasmon Manual "UDO60 Drive Product Specification", the
sense code ASC=92, ASCQ= 00, has the following meaning:
"Overwrite Attempted - The drive attempted to write data on the
    written block."
When this write operation is to optical Read-Write UDO2 media,
the Tivoli Storage Manager reports success for this write
operation. However, the data previously written to this disc is
potentially overwritten by this write operation.
The problem is caused by the Tivoli Storage Manager not being
able to handle the larger media capacity of 60GB. Currently the
Tivoli Storage Manager server can only handle the optical media
    capacity of 30GB (dual-sided).
This problem applies to optical devices with both Read-Write and
WORM medium, when used with Tivoli Storage Manager kernel
    optical device drivers.
    .
    Initial Impact:
    High
    .
    Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected:
The problem exist in version 6.3.4.300, and all versions below.
    .
    Additional Keywords:
Plasmon UD02 UDO60 Worm Optical TSM
