IJ16279: IN SCHEDULER IF ASSIGNMENTS ARE VERY LONG WHEN YOU ZOOM IN THE HOURS DO NOT APPEAR ON THE DATE RIBBON

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When you zoom in enough on the Date Ribbon you see the hours of
    the day on the bottom row.      But if you have Planned Labor
    Assignments that are thousands of hours long when you zoom in
    the bottom row of the Date Ribbon becomes blank instead of
    showing the hours.
    This can be reproduced in GS and in GA.
    Development found that after processing the data models,  there
    are too many Gantt data units, given to a very large assignment.
    That is causing the Gantt header settings to exceed its maximum
    buffer size and that's why it fails to render the hours section.
    STEPS TO REPRODUCE
    1. Go to Work Order Tracking and create a new WO.
    2. Give it  a Scheduled Start Date of 15 years ago and Duration
    10.
    3. On the Plans tab create a new Planned Labor row with Effort
    Hours of 14000 (yes, 14 thousand).
    4 Go To GS or GA.   Create a new Schedule or Work List.   The
    steps below are for GA.
    5. Give it any Start and End dates, use Calendar DAY Shift DAY
    (extend the Calendar End Date and Define/Apply Shifts if there
    are no work periods for the current year.)
    6, Make a Work Query to select the new WO.
    7. Click on the Assignment tab.
    8 The Date Ribbon should look like:
                    Mar 2019
         W10
     4   |    5    |    6    |    7
    9. Click on Zoom In once or twice or 3 times and the Date
    Ribbon will show the problem
                   Mar 2019
        3/5/19    |    3/6/19    |    3/7/19
         (third row all blank ................)
    RESULTS:
    The third row where the hours should be is blank.
    EXPECTED RESULTS:
    The third row should look like this:
